How I feel about Secret Rituals....

I beleive a Secret Ritual is suppose to be kept a secret, or it would not be important for Organization. There are many ceremonies that my Fraternity does, but that is what makes us different from every other organization. A secret Ritual is something that has been passed down member to member ONLY IN YOUR ORGANIZATION! These cememonies or rituals are something every member should keep to them selves and cherish for the rest of their lives. A ritual to me is a something that you should be able to live by. It is something that teaches you a leasson for life in the real world.

Every Organization (Not Just Greek) has a form of rituals, some are only for their members, some are for the public. For instance, I'm sure that Presidents and anyone with higher "power" are involved in certain things that they have to keep to themselves. Athletes, Boss's of a company, Union workers, etc. all have some form of ritual that is only known by them and the ones acciosiated with that person.

People tend to get Rituals and Values mixed up. I can only speak for NPHC but each organization for the most part does things differently for certain reasons. Although we were all founded on the same principals, each organization has to stand out or we would all look the same. Some of my Fratenity values consist of God, Family, Frat, Achievement, and Brotherhood. Now I can say these things, because a lot of us Greeks have the same values. Now if it is something that I know would make us different than others, of course that would be a secret. I keep my rituals deep in my heart because that's what I was taught, which makes my Fraternity so strong. Our "secret Rituals" is what Bonds us together

  1. I totally agree with you Spec. Values and Rituals are indeed two different things. Though they go hand in hand they are not the same. Your daily rituals should be a reflection of your values. I find that my SECRET rituals definately have brought me closer to my sorors.
